Catherine Ressa
January 21, 2019

Catherine Ressa peacefully passed away in her home at First Colonial Inn of Virginia Beach on January 21, 2019 at the age of 97. She was born Catherine Perricone in Brooklyn, NY where she met and married her sweetheart, John Ressa, in 1949. They had two sons, John and Amato, and later moved to Babylon, NY where they raised their family. Catherine worked as a sales associate in both Macy’s and A&S; her hobbies included painting and ceramics. She was quite proud of the dolls she crafted in those classes and displayed them in her home for decades. After retiring, they relocated to Virginia Beach and became snow birds, spending the winter months in Florida. Her adventurous spirit led to a passion for traveling with her husband John to new and exciting locales. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and numerous destinations around the globe. Places they visited included all of Europe, Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand. She loved sharing photos and stories of their incredible experiences.

Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 2012 and her loving daughter-in-law Judie in 2017. She is survived by her son John Ressa and his wife Diane, her granddaughter Laurie Austring and her husband Daniel Austring, her grandson Adam Ressa and his wife Rebecca Kalant, and her great-grandchildren Jackson and Lily Austring, all of northern Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at London Bridge Baptist Church in Virginia Beach on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm.
