Chesapeake~Dean Herbert Rogers, 72, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Lloyd B. and Lena H. Rogers. Dean was a 1964 graduate of Oscar F. Smith High School. He completed a four year carpentry apprenticeship and owned and operated Rogers Acoustics, Inc. until he retired. He loved life and never met a stranger. An avid Cowboys fan and a lifelong lover of NASCAR, he loved going to the races with his son and grandson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Patsy, his son Christopher, his daughter Alison, and three grandchildren- Zachary, Leah, and Lexi. He is also survived by his brother Bruce (Beth), sister-in-law Diane Rogers, niece Patricia S. Godfrey (Donald), niece Melissa (Paul), niece Michelle (Clint), nephew William Savage Jr. (Raye), nephew Darryl (Elizabeth), and nephew Mark (Shannon). He also had four great nephews and four great nieces. He was predeceased in death by his brother Lloyd (Buddy) Rogers and his sister Evelyn R. Savage.
He was a member of Oak Grove UMC for over 40 years. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice, Jennifer Puckett, Garnett and Jimmy Lane, and Kay Donnelly for their constant love and care. A very special thanks goes to Dr. David Palmissano and his wonderful staff for their loving care during his illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Oak Grove UMC, located at 472 N Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Kidney Association or the American Heart Association.
