Denise Marie Auman, 60, of Virginia Beach, passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, November 4th, after battling cancer. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cameron; and her mother, Sarah Ward.
Denise was a graduate of Princess Anne High School (1976), and attended Tidewater Community College. She was named volunteer of the year while devoting endless hours at John B. Dey Elementary School and served as PTA President. She was also a member of the Bayshore Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons for more than 20 years. Denise recently retired from the Virginia Beach school system (Kingston Elementary) after 20 years. She
enjoyed traveling, attending ODU football games, fine dining and wine.
Denise is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, D.C. Auman; her father, Robert Ward; her sisters: Suzanne Flora, Christine Glick, Jeannette Tabet and her niece Catherine Young (Robert); her brothers, John Ward (Marie), and Michael Ward (fiancee Michelle Martin); sister-in-law Debbie McDonald (Bob), as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alberico and his staff. A special thank you to Oncology Nurse Debbie and PA Ashley. Also to the nurses on the Virginia Beach Sentara Oncology ward. Hospice and staff provided excellent comfort care, and a special thank you to Peggy.
Per Denise’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held for family and friends at the Old Cavalier on the Hill, in the Hunt Room, Sunday, November 11th from 1-3pm.
