Dennis Frederick Neveu
May 30, 1959 - November 12, 2018

Dennis Frederick Neveu, 59, had his final homecoming to be reunited with our Lord on November 12, 2018 surrounded by his family in Virginia Beach, VA. Born in Groton, CT to Roberta Marty Presby and the late Hector Neveu, Dennis was raised in Norfolk, VA.

Dennis had a long, illustrious career on the sea as a seasoned commercial fisherman and lobsterman. He worked from several ports including New Bedford, MA, Alaska and ultimately anchored in Fort Myers, FL, where he resided for the past 30 years. Dennis created an extended family of hard-working, honest people who provided a strong sense of community. Dennis lived alongside his shipmates for weeks at a time on the open sea, and as a result, several turned into lifelong friends. While Dennis rarely spoke of it, one of the most interesting facts about him was his real life role in a season of Deadliest Catches Lobster Wars in 2007. They even pronounced his name correctly.

Once he gave up fishing, Dennis became an accomplished repairman of shrimp and fishing vessels, specializing in structural and fiberglass hull rehabilitation. He loved the docks, and hard work; it was in his DNA.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Roberta Presby of Virginia Beach; brothers David (Terri) Neveu, Douglas (Diane) Neveu, Daniel Neveu; sisters Donna Neveu (Ottis ‘Rusty’) Bishop, Denise (Kerry Jones) Neveu and Dianne Neveu Taylor; special friends Darby Doerzbacher, Barry Marx and Steve Rohl; a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dennis was also preceded by his sister in law Sandy Emerson Neveu.

A memorial service to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 3:00 pm at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church at 717 Tucson Road, Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Sentara Foundation: Hospice House in memory of Dennis. Donations can be made online at www.sentara.com\foundation or mailed to Sentara Foundation 6015 Poplar Hall Drive Norfolk, VA 23502.
