Virginia Beach- Edward “Ski” Binkowski, 74, of Virginia Beach, passed away on November 5 in the comfort of his house, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Carole (nee Durette), children Carolann of Va Beach and Arthur (Beverly) of Woburn MA, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. Born in Philadelphia, Ski enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and retired after serving 20 years. Ski served as a Signalman during the Vietnam War and was awarded many Navy achievements and honors.
Never at a loss for a quick joke related to the topic at hand, Ski enjoyed listening and dancing to his oldies, his vinyl records from all decades, golfing with his buddies and just having a good old time. Ski previously served as an usher at Little Creek Chapel and more recently attended mass at St. Gregory the Great parish, where the family will attend 8:00 mass on Saturday, November 17 to celebrate Ski’s life. A celebration of life will start at 2:00PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3402, located at 1061 Newtown Rd, Va Beach. Military funeral honors will commence at 2:30PM, followed by a luncheon provided by the family.
Ski’s family wishes to thank those at Intrepid Hospice for their compassion and help. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Mary’s Home, Va Beach.
