Jeannie Goble Sloop, 59, passed away on December 3, 2018 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Jeannie was born in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1959 to her parents, Mable and Frank Joseph Goble, Jr. She graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 1977 and received a degree in elementary education from Virginia Tech in 1981. She raised a family of her own in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she lived for over 30 years.
Jeannie loved to teach children as a pre-kindergarten teacher in Norfolk Public Schools for over 20 years. She was a strong advocate for early childhood education and led her classroom theory by the quote from Martin Luther King, Jr: “Intelligence plus character: that is the goal of a true education.” She was loved by both students and coworkers; she brought an atmosphere of patience, compassion, and open-mindedness to every classroom she touched.
Jeannie loved local art, her cat Paige, and being a Hokie. She was a member of Trinity Church who loved God, her pastor, and the sense of community she found there. She will be always remembered for her sweet disposition, her kindness and charity towards others, and her acceptance of all people from all walks of life. These are qualities she passed down in the hearts of her sons.
She leaves behind many broken-hearted survivors including her son, Jacob Sloop and partner Emeline Greer, two sisters Sandra Skroska and husband John, and Marianne Dicken and husband Walter, and two brothers, Mike Goble and wife Robin, and Mark Goble and wife Terri, and Max W. Sloop, Jr. In heaven she joins her parents, Mable and Frank Joseph Goble Jr., and her son, Jonathan Sloop.
Friends and family are invited to remember Jeannie at a service on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 12:00pm at Lynnhaven Colony Congressional Church United Church of Christ, 2217 W Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
