Virginia Beach- Joyce Saunders McReynolds Carter went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. She was 70 years old. Daughter to military veterans Franklin and Dorothea McReynolds, she was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but moved to Hampton Roads as a young adult. She was a member of Christian Chapel Assembly of God, and a Commander in the Royal Rangers program, where she worked with disadvantaged children.
A beloved, devoted mother, Joyce is survived by her two children, Daniel R. Carter and Cheryl L. Albino, one son-in-law, Wilfredo Albino Jr., and four grandchildren, Bishop Newton, and Wilfredo III, Martika, and Xavier Albino. She also leaves behind five siblings: Thomas McReynolds, Deborah Biggers, Evelyn Carter, Tina Shreck, and Dennis McReynolds, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service in her honor will be held on December 29, 2018 at 6pm at the Coastal Virginia Church (formerly known as Glad Tidings) at 301 S. Newtown Road in Norfolk, VA. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce’s name to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund at heartlandhospicefund.org.
