Kayla Burnette, 25, passed away on October 6, 2020. Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Ebb and Mildred Burnette and Lawrence and Lucinda Spicher.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Robert and Tracy Burnette; significant other, Matthew Emerson; siblings: Lynne Skeeter, Robert Burnette, Jr. (Jessica Jacobs), and Kari Burnette (Kevin McIntosh); nieces and nephews: Nicholas Welt, Lacey McIntosh, William Burnette, Lillian Burnette, Kevin McIntosh III, and Elizabeth Burnette; three step-nieces and step-nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
A resident of Portsmouth, Kayla graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, a member of the class of 2014. She worked as a DSD receiver at Food Lion. She enjoyed clogging, dancing for many years with Virginia Fancy Feet. Kayla loved to be outdoors – camping and fishing were two of her greatest joys. She was also a devoted Cowboys fan.
Kayla’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, who will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Alexander Baptist Church, 4316 Pamela Ct, Chesapeake, VA 23321.
