Norfolk- Lenvin Irwin “Len” Perkey, 88, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with peripheral artery disease and Alzheimer’s disease. He was Born in Premier, West Virginia, to the late Charles Perkey and Ethel Marie Perkey.
Len was a very tolerant easygoing person liked by everyone he met. During his lifetime he was an avid bowler and golfer. After retirement, he organized weekly golf outings for he and his close friends.
Len served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a skilled machinist and completed 35 years of federal service for the U. S. Navy. At the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk he worked 27 years was a Machinist & Machinist Instructor. He retired in 1995 as a “Price Fighter” at the Naval Supply Center in Norfolk where he used his expertise to evaluate costs to help fight overpriced contracts for specialized spare parts & tools.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 64 years Audrey Maxine Perkey, his sisters Leatizell Beck and Rinda Gay Akemon, his son Lenvin R. “Rudy” Perkey and wife Dolly M. Perkey, his grandchildren Andrew J. Perkey & Robert R. Rooks III, and granddaughter Madelyn Marie Rooks.
Final arrangements are being made by the Cremation Society of Virginia. A memorial service will be held at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia at a future date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vacremationsociety.com
