Lois passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, July 8, 2018.
Lois was born in Philadelphia and met husband Dick while in Frankford High School, and specifically while attending Methodist Youth Fellowship. She worked on her high school paper staff and played violin in the school orchestra. In her senior year she was chosen to play in the All City High School Orchestra. She spent two summers in a volunteer nurse cadet program to prepare her for Nursing School.
She graduated from Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, and later earned BA, MA, and School Nurse Practitioner degrees. She retired in 1993 after about 25 years of School Nursing.
She was active in the conference work for the United Methodist Church as a certified Teaching Lab Instructor, as well as years of teaching children in the local church. She was also active as a program leader in the United Methodist Women. Later together with her husband Dick she taught adult classes and after moving to Virginia served as a Stephen Minister. All her life she minister to aging relatives and friends in need in many ways.
Lois and Dick were married in 1950 and have been blessed with children Joanne and Susan and all their families. She is survived by husband Dick, daughters Joanne Crass and Susan Schepps and their husbands, Jeff and Don; grandchildren Abbie Schepps (Cameron Tippin), Robert Crass, Mika Crass (Maureen Kirby), Yumi Crass (Daniel Burlas), and JJ Crass (Sarah Jackson). She is also survived by her sister Barbara Froggatt and brother/sisters in law Nancy Gingrich, Nancy Cavanaugh and Janet and Lou Metz. She is fondly remembered by nieces and nephews Scott (Katie) and Keith (Susan) Froggatt, Robert (Anne) Gingrich, Lisa Gingrich (Peter) Thompson, John Gingrich, David Metz, Patti Metz (Ken) Bodkin, Helen Cavanaugh and all their families.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 2 pm at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and on Thursday, July 19th at The Crossings at Independence.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Lois’s name to Virginia Beach United Methodist Church for the Stephen Ministry or The Freda Gordon Hospice.
