Suffolk- Michael Anthony Diorio, beloved husband of Maria V. Diorio (1930-2018) for 57 years passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Michael was the oldest of four children born to Nicholas and Mary Diorio from West Brighton area of Staten Island, New York. Michael is the father of six children, grandfather of ten children, and great-grandfather of eight children.
Michael served in the U.S. Navy for over 32 years including two deployments to Vietnam, numerous multi-month deployments at sea, and multi-year assignments in Panama; Italy; New York, New York; Newport, RI; Philadelphia, PA; Norfolk, VA; and Orlando, FL. After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1983 as a Command Master Chief, Michael served as a teacher for Orange County Schools before retiring in Longwood, FL, in 1996. He touched thousands of lives not only as a teacher, but also during his many years of meritorious and distinguished military service.
Private funeral services are planned at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA, followed by a reception to allow family and friends to gather and celebrate the life of a brave and honorable man who God blessed with a competitive spirit and a committed soul. Michael loved his wife and family, and all those who had the opportunity to meet and know him.

Hello Mrs Maria V. Diorio I take this opportunity to express my condolence to you and your family. Michael and I worked at 33rd St. jail. I at mired him for his dedication to his country and his students at the jail. I need to apologies for that time that I had to take you and Mike to the Orlando Airport and I completely forgot. I have made several mistakes in my 78 years of my life that I will never forget and that I will feel sorry for. I pray that Mike has forgiving me now that he is with the LORD.
