Norman D. Metzger
February 4, 1938 - June 9, 2017

Virginia Beach- ICC Norman Daniel Metzger, 79, (USN Ret) 1938-2017, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away June 9, 2017 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.  Norman was born on February 4, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Eleonore Jensen Metzger Lund and Johannes Daniel Metzger.  He is predeceased by both parents and his stepfather, Robert Lund.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Scott and James Metzger of Virginia Beach, VA,  Susan Davis and husband Dan of Moyock, NC, Catherine Metzger Orr and husband Gary of Chesapeake, VA.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Edna of Vestre Sandoya, Norway, wife, Patricia Metzger, former wife and childhood friend, Anita Metzger Bunge and numerous friends and family.

Norman was the first generation born in the USA to his parents who were both from Norway.  After graduating from high school in Brooklyn, NY, Norman joined the military and served his country in the USN for 23 years before retiring in 1978.  He then went onto work for Xerox before retiring in 1993.  Norman enjoyed bowling, playing pool and socializing with friends and family.  He is missed dearly.

A memorial service / celebration of life, will be held at 1pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the VFW Post 392, 2408 Bowland Pkwy., Virginia Beach, VA 23454, before his military burial, the spreading of his ashes, at sea.
