Robert J. McDonald
June 10, 1933 - February 5, 2018

84 of the 2500 block of Sevilla Court, Virginia Beach, passed away on February 5, 2018 at the Hampton VA Medical Center. Bob was born on June 10, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was the eldest son of the late Harold M. and Sara U. McDonald. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Donna of Virginia Beach, and his brother, John P. McDonald. He was a member of Nimmo United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and was a member of the United Methodist Men’s Group .He was a 50 year Mason, most recently at Princess Ann Lodge #25.
He was a life member of the Greenlawn Fire Dept. in Greenlawn, Long Island, NY. Bob was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in N.J. and CW. Post College of Long Island University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired to Virginia Beach in 1996 after serving as sales manager for the Jomac Company in Bucks County, PA for ten years. Prior to that he was an area manager for the Kendall Company from 1969 to 1985 in the offset printing industry. He was also a salesman for Minnesota Mining and Mfg Co. from 1958 to 1969.
Survivors include his three sons: James S. McDonald of Deltona Fl, Jeffrey A. McDonald & his wife Lori of East Northport, NY, and John M. McDonald of Kings Park, NY. He also has two daughters, Laurie A. Stahno and her husband John, and Jennifer L. Totura. Both reside in Huntington, New York. There are 14 beloved grandchildren, Sharice, Corey, Darien, John, Alexandra, Sara, William, Nicholas, Sydney, Casey, Mackenzie, Robert, Olivia and Aidan. Bob is also survived by a brother, Richard A. of Hendersonville, N.C.
Bob was a heart transplant recipient in November of 2001 and was very grateful for life. He was a volunteer for Life Net. He was also a good friend of Lois W.
A memorial church service will be conducted at 11AM Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at Nimmo United Methodist Church by Pastor Brandon. Memorial donations may be made to Nimmo United Methodist Church, 2200 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.
