Chesapeake- Walter Baldwin III, age 82, went to be with The Lord on Good Friday March 30, 2018. Walt was beloved for his joy of teaching gardening, volunteer work, and his sweet, kind and generous spirit he shared with all; friends, family and strangers.
Walt is predeceased by his parents Marian Coates & Walter Baldwin Jr and his brother Roger Baldwin.
Walt is survived by his sweet wife of 39 years Aurelia Baldwin, brothers Gerald Baldwin & Bruce Baldwin, children Andrea Lother, Mark Baldwin, John Baldwin & Ken Jeziorski, and grandchildren Kacey Lother, Daniel Baldwin, Jon Jeziorki, Zachary Baldwin & Anna Baldwin.
Born and raised in Pennsylvannia, Walt was a Quaker and a strong believer in a loving and companion God.
Walt served in the Air Force in Germany as a Chaplain’s Assistant. He was a Postal Worker and then a Policeman in Sudbury MA. He was a Policeman in Evanston IL and then in Bourne MA. In VA he was an Officer for Norfolk & Portsmouth tunnels, & later a Chesapeake Corrections Officer.
Walt fostered 12 children, 1 of which he adopted, his son John.
Walt and his wife Aurie volunteered 1000s of hours to both the Currituck Master Gardeners and the Chesapeake Master Gardeners, teaching horticulture, planting, and donating materials. Walt also volunteered for Mens’ Garden Club of Tidewater.
A celebration of life will be held on the beautiful property Walt & Aurie maintained at 325 Indian Creek Rd, Chesapeake, VA at 1pm Sat. April 21. Parking is available at Solid Rock Church, 245 Indian Creek Rd. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Currituck Master Gardeners or to Norfolk Botanical Gardens in memory of Walter Baldwin III.
